From: david.bergkvist@mf.ct.se (David Bergkvist) Subject: Welcome to Peace Venture To: macman@bernina.ethz.ch Welcome to Malmo and Peace Venture the 15-17 of September, 1995 The venture camps in Sweden began in 1989 with Viking Venture. 1500 Swedish guides and scouts sailed with the ferry from Gothenburg to London, for a weekend with English venture scouts. In 1991 it continued with Stockholm Venture when over 6000 guides and scouts from both Sweden and the rest of the world gathered in Stockholm to enjoy three days of scouting in the centre of the Swedish capital. Now it's time for the third venture camp. During the weekend 15-17 of September 1995, Peace Venture will be held in Malmo. As mentioned in the name we will be celebrating the Peace Day, which is the third Tuesday in September every year, but also commemorate the UN 50th anniversary. Since the aim for both Peace Day and the UN is a peaceful and friendly world. Now we invite You and your friends in guiding and scouting to join us in this venture camp in Malmo. The camp is open to scouts, guides and leaders from 15 years of age. Amongst the program activities is a wide range of peace- and scout activities. Such as canoeing, exploring Malmo Castle, sending peace greetings by amateur radio and over Internet. On Saturday night there will be a peace gala in Baltiska hallen, Malmo, with a variety of local and international performers. It will be a night to remember. Malmo is easily reached by car, train, air, boat and even by foot. There are ferries every hour from Copenhagen that runs fast and cheap. The camp fee is 300 SEK and the last day to register is the 30th of June 1995. The fee includes all program activities, camp fee, entry to the peace gala but no meals. It will be possible to buy food and others supplies near the camp site. For those who may wish so, we'll try to arrange home hospitality in connection with the camp.
